I never heard an artist that could relate to my struggles with abuse, older male grooming relationships, melancholia, sadness, like her. I was so young but already filled with so much trauma.
Tumblr was at its peak, teenagers were depressed lmao, flower crowns everywhere, indie music topping the charts. I’m happy to see her fanbase constantly growing, and seeing new people become fans each year ! but man there will never be a more iconic era than that 2012-2014 era. My friend told me about a song called “born to die” from this artist named Lana del Rey and I was like what ? “Do u mean marina del Rey ?” (I’m Californian, some will get it lol ) I went home on YouTube/tumblr and looked her up and it was over from there.
